DRDO officials visited a Rolls-Royce facility in the UK and they discussed Rolls-Royce’s existing and planned Aviation and defense Partnerships in India.

This visit is significant as the DRDO and Rolls Royce are in talks to jointly develop a 110 kilonewton engine for India’s AMCA 5.5th Generation fighter jet.

If a partnership agreement is signed then India will own the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the engines and will be supported by an Indian supply chain that will create a whole new ecosystem in the Indian Aerospace sector.
