Discussions to jointly develop a 120-kilonewton jet engine and new report indicate that depending on the final cost of the engine project, India can also consider full Indian IP rights in addition to Joint Intellectual Property Rights.
The Intellectual Property of the AMCA engine is a crucial component of the Indian engine development strategy as India will need Intellectual Property Rights to tweak and improve the engine in the future and also develop new derivatives for other indigenous fighter jet programs.
Intellectual Property Rights will also ensure that engines can be sold to other countries and that the United Kingdom will have no veto power in the case of geopolitical concerns.
