The Indian Army has significantly enhanced its operational capabilities by introducing 250 units of the Polaris MRZR-D4, a high-performance off-road vehicle known for its versatility and durability. Developed by Polaris Defense, a division of Polaris Industries, the MRZR-D4 represents a major advancement in mobility and utility for the military.
The Polaris MRZR-D4 is specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of modern military operations. This vehicle features a 500-pound rear box capacity, auxiliary power, and multiple cargo tie-down points. It can accommodate up to six personnel, making it highly adaptable for various mission profiles.
Designed with aircraft tie-downs and a collapsible roll cage, the MRZR-D4 is as expeditionary as the soldiers it serves. The roll cage can be folded down without the need for tools, reducing the vehicle’s height from 1.87 meters to 1.52 meters for easier transport. Enhanced through user feedback, the MRZR-D4 offers better sight lines and a longer operational range, ensuring its effectiveness and durability in any mission environment.

The vehicle measures 3.55 meters in length, 1.51 meters in width, and 1.87 meters in height, which can be reduced to 1.52 meters with the roll cage collapsed. With a curb weight of 952.5 kg, the MRZR-D4 has a payload capacity of 680 kg. The rear cargo box can hold up to 226.8 kg, and an additional tactical trailer can be attached for an extra payload capacity of 454 kg.
The rear modular cargo bed, measuring 0.82 meters in length, 1.24 meters in width, and 0.51 meters in height, supports various configurations, including up to two rearward-facing seats, longitudinally placed litters, or one of each, depending on mission requirements.
The MRZR-D4 is a turbocharged diesel variant of the original MRZR 4. It offers high auxiliary power and extended range, making it more efficient than its predecessor. These features are critical for missions requiring sustained operations and high mobility in rugged terrains.
The induction of the Polaris MRZR D4 signifies a substantial leap forward in the Indian Army’s operational mobility. These robust and versatile vehicles empower troops to navigate challenging terrain, execute diverse missions, and achieve tactical objectives with greater effectiveness.
