Swedish Aircraft manufacturer SAAB’s team has met many potential Indian partners that could be involved in the manufacturing of the Gripen-E fighter jet in India if it wins the Indian Air Force’s MRFA tender.

SAAB officials have met with aerospace companies from Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai that includes Mahindra Defense and VEM Technologies and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding partner selection might take place on the sidelines of the Aero India 2023.

On the other hand, French firm Dassault Aviation has offered its latest Rafale F4 standard in the contest which had started trials in Francein 2021 and will be fully ready by 2024.

The Indian Air Force is likely to finalize the Air Staff Qualitative Requirements by end of this year and the Request For Proposal (RFP) for 114 fighter jets will be issued in late 2023 and a winner will be selected by 2025.
