Project-75I : At a time when Germany pushing for Dolphin-II, South Korea re-emerges as the front runner in the Indian Navy submarine program
The latest reports coming in that indicate that South Korea has started diplomatic backchanneling in New Delhi for its bid where it has offered Lithium-ion and Fuel Cell based AIP system-powered DSME-3000 (KSS-III) submarine to meet Indian Navy’s submarine requirements under the Project-75I program, at a time when Germany is negotiating a Govt to Govt deal for Dolphin-II class submarines for the Indian Navy with the Indian Govt.
South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co is the sole bidder in Project-75I that has agreed to all the liability clauses and Transfer of Technology demands made by the Indian Navy and has also offered further customization of the submarine design that will allow greater participation of the Indian Warship Design Bureau in the customization process along with new features as demanded by the Indian Navy.
There is also a high possibility that South Korea will also send a formal proposal for a Government-to-Government deal just like the Germans. IgMp
