BIG UPDATE: Russia offers Kalibr long range cruise missile and DRDO AIP equipped Amur-1650 class submarine to India under Project-75I
As per defence sources, Russia has offered to jointly develop an India-specific model of Amur-1650-class conventional attack submarine under the Indian Navy’s Project-75I submarine program to manufacture6 Next Generation submarines in the country and as per latest reports Russia has followed up with an offer to integrate the submarine with Kalibr Submarine Launched Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missiles (SLCM) as well as BrahMos missiles and this offer comes at a time when Germany is about to send a detailed proposal on their offer to India.
Russia has offered to jointly develop a 3,000-ton displacement submarine with a Vertical Launch System (VLS) with 80% indigenous content along with India-made communication systems and Combat Management Systems including DRDO developed fuel cell-based Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system.
The fourth generation Amur-class submarine has improved acoustic stealth, new combat systems, a diving depth of 300 meters, a speed of 22 knots and an endurance of 45 days. IgMp
