Will act firmly against people spreading terror narrative and disturbing the peace: J&K Police

Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police Kashmir V K Birdi said on Wednesday that police will take tough action against anyone spreading terrorist narratives and attempting to disrupt peace.

At a meeting to evaluate law and order in the Ganderbal district, Birdi stated, “Police will adopt robust measures and take firm action against individuals propagating a terror narrative and disturbing the peace on social media platforms.”

According to a spokeswoman, the meeting was attended by top Superintendent of Police, Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, Deputy Inspector General, Central Kashmir, and numerous other top police officers.

The IG was given a detailed briefing on the district’s general security situation during the meeting, along with a thorough discussion of tactics to fight threats and difficulties provided by disruptive forces on the ground.

Birdi stressed the necessity for law enforcement authorities to be ready to react quickly to any security issues and provided orders for fair and severe action against lawbreakers.

He asked police to step up counterterrorism efforts and pursue cases against people or groups that aid in “anti-national” activity.

During the meeting, police emphasised the need to discover crimes against women in particular and advocated stepping up surveillance to do so.

Birdi instructed officers to conduct professional investigations in UAPA cases to secure conviction.
