The Joint Services Command (JSC) conducted a multi-domain exercise named DweepShakti 2023 from November 20 to 24. The exercise was conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and involved amphibious landings, air-landed operations, heliborne operations, special forces operations, ISR operations and coastal security operations.

Objectives of Exercise DweepShakti 2023

The objectives of Exercise DweepShakti 2023 were to:

  • Enhance interoperability between the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force
  • Validate operational readiness of air stations, base depot and forward operating bases
  • Test the operational readiness of the armed forces for a range of contingencies in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Some of the key highlights of Exercise DweepShakti 2023 include:

  • Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, CINCAN witnessed coordinated amphibious operations involving airborne drop, aerial insertion, amphibious assault by ships, disembarkation of troops and capture of objective.
  • As part of Exercise Dweep Shakti, ISR Exercise DivyaDristi validated enhanced situation awareness based on data fusion of multi-sensor inputs, satellite imagery and communications.
  • Biannual Coastal Security Exercise SagarKavach validated the SOPs promulgated for the coastal security response mechanism.
  • During Exercise Deeepshakti, Air Mshl Saju Balakrishnan, CINCAN visited Campbell Bay and Diglipur and evaluated readiness state of the defence forces at their strategic locations besides interacting with the troops.

Overall, Exercise DweepShakti 2023 was a successful exercise that showcased the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces to operate in a coordinated and seamless manner in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
