After Ukraine captured Russian EW pod, India to replace obsolete hardware on SAP-518 pod with indigenous hardware & software

It was reported in September that Ukraine had captured one of Russia’s most capable Aerial Electronic Warfare pods and interestingly the Defence Ministry has now released a Request For Information (RFI) to identify potential vendors to replace obsolete hardware on 5 SAP-518 pods and associated test equipment for Su-30 aircraft of Indian Air Force and delivery must be completed within 12 months of signing of contract.

The primary objective is to replace the obsolete electronics on the existing SAP-518 pods with totally indigenously designed modular electronic warfare building blocks and indigenous software that will result in improved reliability and enhanced performance.
