The Indian Air Force Chief had recently informed the media that it would be wise to have a backup development plan in place to ensure availability of alternative systems and sensors in case indigenous plan to make fifth generation fighter jet AMCA, fails to mature as per planned timelines.

Interestingly, the Consortium that will develop the Sixth Generation fighter jet for the UK, Japan and Italy under the Global Combat Air Program has said that it will offer the whole aircraft to interested countries as well as the systems and subsystems developed under this program like Engine, Radars and defensive AIDS will also be offered to India, South Korea and Indonesia which are working to develop their own fifth generation aircraft.
