As per the latest information, the Critical Design Review (CDR) report of the AMCA stealth fighter program will be submitted to the Indian Air Force by end of this month and the Air Force will sign the report before March 2023 and once the report is signed off, the CCS approval is usually granted in six months.

The Project Director of AMCA program had said recently that the first aircraft will roll out of the hangar within three and a half years after the CCS approval, followed with the first flight in the next one year.

The Indian Air Force Chief had said recently that it would be prudent to have a backup development plan in place to ensure the availability of alternative systems and sensors in case indigenous plan fails to mature as per planned timelines.
