Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has concluded his three-day official visit to Egypt and as per latest media reports apart from their interest to purchase 70 LCA Tejas Light Combat Aircraft and Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), Egypt has also shown interest in procuring the Akash Prime air defense system that is capable of intercepting hostile aircraft, helicopters, drones and subsonic cruise missiles at a range of 30 kilometers.
During the ongoing visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit, India and Egypt has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in defence sector including possible defence manufacturing in Egypt.
