MoD to collaborate with pvt sector companies for LR-LACM production
The DRDO has planned two additional tests to further evaluate the performance of the manic small turbofan engine that will power the Long-Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LR-LACM).
The LR-LACM production orders will surpass 1000 units as it will constitute a significant portion of the Integrated Rocket Force (IRF) so the Ministry of Defence is keen on engaging private sector companies in the production of warheads including the propulsion for the first stage booster motor while the complete assembly of the missile system will initially remain with public sector companies but later private sector companies will take over the complete production of the missile.
LR-LACM will have a range of more than 1000 km at subsonic speed and it can be launched from a land-based truck-mounted launching system, from the air through fighter jets, and from Universal Vertical Launching System (UVLS) onboard Navy warships for a land attack role.
