The DRDO had showcased its Uttam Mark 2 AESA radar at the Defence Expo 2022 which had 912 Transmit Receiver modules which is more than 780 Transmit Receiver modules of the baseline Uttam AESA radar.

The Uttam Mk2 AESA radar was initially developed to be equipped on the Tejas Mk2 Medium Weight Fighter. But as per the latest information, a private sector company manufactured 3 Uttam Mk2 AESA radars and delivered those to Hindustan Aeronautics and they are being tested on two Tejas Mk1A testbeds which is an indication that Tejas Mk1A may get more powerful Uttam Mk2 AESA radar, which will increase its radar coverage and increase the superiority of target guidance to its missiles and weapons.
