Hindustan Aeronautics has started fabrication of the first Tejas Mk-2 prototype that is expected to be rolled out by end of this year that will conducts its first high-speed trials will start in 2023.

The funds are enough to fabricate the first prototype and to place orders for some of the components but the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) won’t have funds left to fabricate the second Tejas Mk-2 prototype without sanction of additional funds.

The purchase order for the second prototype might not be issued in time that could lead to further delays in rollout of the second prototype that was planned in 2024.

Aeronautical Development Agency plans to build Tejas Mk-2 prototypes that will be used extensively for the flight and developmental trials for the program Aeronautical Development Agency had approached Defence Ministry in February for additional funds but it is still waiting for fun clearance to build additional three prototypes.
