HAL to deliver 8 LCA Tejas Trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force this fiscal

Hindustan Aeronautics has confirmed that it will hand over at least 8 LCA Tejas trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force within the current fiscal year.

HAL has received orders for 18 LCA Tejas trainers from the Indian Air Force and currently, 10 trainers are in various stages of development.

HAL aims to deliver a minimum of 6 LCA Tejas Mk-1 trainers by the end of this year and an additional two Mk-1A trainers by March 2024 and complete the delivery of all 18 trainers by March 2025.

After the delivery of these 8 trainers, HAL will start the manufacturing of 73 Tejas Mk1A jets and the remaining 8 Mk1A trainers by early 2024 at a speed of 16 aircraft per year.

Currently, HAL has already completed delivery of 32 Mk1 jets and 2 Mk1 trainers out of the total contract of 40 Mk1 jets including 8 trainers, which have formed 2 squadrons at Sulur Air Force station in Bengaluru, namely the No.45 squadron and No.18 squadron of the Indian Air Force.
