Big boost to LCA Tejas Firepower: HAL starts integration of French Hammer air-to-ground missile on LCA Tejas
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has started work to integrate the Hammer air-to-ground missile on the LCA Tejas fighter jet.
HAL has completed shroud separation on the Hammer missile that will pave the way for the upcoming trials of the missile which will assess their performance and integration with the Tejas fighter jet.

As the Tejas aircraft is being deployed at forward bases, the addition of French Hammer missiles will boost its strike capabilities in high-altitude mountainous regions such as Eastern Ladakh.
Hammer missile is already in service with the French Dassault Rafale aircraft of the Indian Air Force which is deployed at Hasimara Air Base (Eastern Sector) and Ambala Airbase (Western Sector) to safeguard two sides of India from its enemies.
Hammer is an all-weather smart air-to-surface weapon with an extended stand-off capacity. Hammer sets new standards in Close Air Support missions as well as deep strike missions with its family of warheads and guidance kits. It features Fire & Forget capability and insensitivity to GNSS-denied environments, Stand-off ranges firing & simultaneous multi-target attack capability.
Hammer is compatible with different standard bomb bodies (125, 250, 500, and 1000 kg). Autonomous and insensitive to jamming, this weapon system can be launched from low altitude, over rough terrain. It has a range of 50-70 km at high altitudes (31 miles or 50 km) while at low altitudes its range comes down to 15 km (9 miles or 14 km).
